We see about 5,000 startups each week, and I want to give you a glimpse into how we at Headline think about trending tech companies and tracking new investment opportunities. In this post, I’m highlighting top tech companies that have announced or raised a seed round within the past week.

PayRent

EVA Growth Index:

Product:
Fintech platform that enables landlords to accept electronic rent payments via credit cards or bank transfers

Lead Investors:
RevRoad

Total Raised:
Undisclosed

Comparables:
Appfolio, Yardi, Cozy

My Thoughts:
I am so baffled how my current and many past landlords won’t let me pay them in any other method than a paper check. It is 2022, surely we can digitize my largest monthly recurring expenditure…..

Zipy

EVA Growth Index:
No external sources showing growth

Product:
Bug reporting platform that connects the dots between what your customers did, when they did it, and where the problem occurred in the code

Lead Investors:
Blume Ventures, Together Fund

Total Raised:
$3M

Comparables:
Crashlytics, Jira

My Thoughts:
I spend a fair amount of my work time working with our developer team to build internal software tools. As I am often the end-user, I am the one running into bugs and will forget in real-time what I did exactly to trigger the bug. Plus no user actually wants to spend time reporting their path to a bug — I am already frustrated that I ran into it. I, therefore, really see the use case of Zipy and understand that this can drive major efficiencies for modern developer teams if implemented accurately.

HBox

EVA Growth Index:

Product:
Vertical SaaS solution that digitizes primary care facilities

Lead Investors:
Arali Ventures

Total Raised:
$700K

Comparables:
N/A

My Thoughts:
As many sectors, health care had to completely digitize over the last two years, and with 300K primary care providers in the US, there is a massive market opportunity with a clear why now.

Ellis

EVA Growth Index:
No external sources showing growth

Product:
Neo bank for international students

Lead Investors:
Kindred Ventures

Total Raised:
$6M

Comparables:
Chime, N26, Sofi, Revolut

My Thoughts:
There are 1M international students that are replaced about every four years. Most of these are by nature affluent and a great population to own as a bank from their early innings. Smart target market selection!

Remio

EVA Growth Index:
No external sources showing growth

Product:
VR platform to facilitate memorable team events

Lead Investors:
Khosla Ventures

Total Raised:
$5M

Comparables:
Glue Work

My Thoughts:
Anyone who spent significant time in VR will know that interacting with someone in VR is far more personable than Zoom. I don’t think VR will replace Zoom meetings anytime soon, but it is fantastic for team building experiences which is a category for so much innovation ahead.
