Our Investor Nicolas von Blottnitz shares the top seeded companies to keep an eye on this week.

We see about 5,000 startups each week, and I want to give you a glimpse into how we at Headline think about trending tech companies and tracking new investment opportunities. In this post, I’m highlighting top tech companies that have announced or raised a seed round within the past week.
LexCheck

EVA Growth Index:

Product:
AI-enabled software platform to automate legal contract review
Lead Investors:
Ulu Ventures, Kli Capital
Total Raised:
$8M
Comparables:
Ontra
My Thoughts:
A majority of contracts are repeat skeletons that are filled in with case-specific inputs. Take it from someone who fills in term sheets for a living. It therefore only makes sense to me that with the advances in NLP that software can automate a majority of this.
Boom & Bucket

EVA Growth Index:
No external sources showing growth
Product:
Online marketplace to buy and sell heavy-duty construction equipment
Lead Investors:
Human Capital, Brick & Mortar Ventures
Total Raised:
$6M
Comparables:
N/A
My Thoughts:
Massive and incredibly fragmented marketplace with relatively homogeneous supply. This space needs a marketplace in my eyes.
Waitroom

EVA Growth Index:
No external sources showing growth
Product:
Online sessions where thought leaders talk/teach about their core skill set and open up to one on one Q&A with the audience
Lead Investors:
David Sacks
Total Raised:
$3M
Comparables:
Cameo, Masterclass
My Thoughts:
I am surprised how Facebook/Instagram has never been able to own this space. I guess the same could be said for Cameo. This should totally exist though and I see success all around aggregating quality supply.
Fishtail

EVA Growth Index:
No external sources showing growth
Product:
Fintech solution for freight forwarders to provide freight financing to their customers
Lead Investors:
Thursday Ventures
Total Raised:
$5M
Comparables:
Antiquated financial institutions
My Thoughts:
We recently spent a ton of time with vertical SaaS software for freight forwarders. We learned that the category is one of the most antiquated spaces in terms of modern technology adoption (Flexport is barely scratching the surface). Within that, freight financing is more demanded than ever, given that freight lead times are longer than ever, which drives the why now for Fishtail.
