We see about 5,000 startups each week, and I want to give you a glimpse into how we at Headline think about trending tech companies and tracking new investment opportunities. In this post, I’m highlighting top tech companies that have announced or raised a seed round within the past week.

Deephow

EVA Growth Index:

Product:
SaaS platform for AI-indexed and segmented educational videos for manufacturing, professional services, and construction operations

Lead Investors:
Sierra Ventures

Total Raised:
$9M

Comparables:
Loom

My Thoughts:
New employee onboarding and training is such a resource-intensive function for any operation. Providing learners with properly indexed content looks to be a very scalable means to drive more efficiency across this cost center.

Genei

EVA Growth Index:

Product:
AI-enabled research and writing platform that enables writers by generating real-time summaries of articles to be paraphrased into original content/write-ups at unparallel speeds

Lead Investors:
Undisclosed

Total Raised:
Undisclosed

Comparables:
Quillbot

My Thoughts:
The last real innovation in how people write was the introduction of Microsoft Word. With most knowledge effectively being paraphrased from third-party sources, tools like Genei should significantly increase the efficiency at which writers generate content.

Grow Credit

EVA Growth Index:

Product:
Easy-access credit card dedicate for low-credit consumers to pay only their subscriptions to autonomously improve their credit score

Lead Investors:
Arena Investors, LP

Total Raised:
$8.6M

Comparables:
Selflender

My Thoughts:
Being a foreigner moving to the US, I am still in the process of building my credit score as it is such a crucial part of getting access to high-value products. I actually use Selflender, and this looks to be an even more frictionless manner to do this. I probably need to start using this as well on the side. This is pretty ingenious!

Peritus.ai

EVA Growth Index:
No external source showing growth

Product:
AI-enabled Chrome plug-in that analyzes the conversations of any community to let customer success or community managers make more intelligent decisions/actions

Lead Investors:
First Rays Venture Partners, Benhamou Global Ventures, Ideaspring Capital, The Hive

Total Raised:
$8M

Comparables:
Rocket Chat

My Thoughts:
Communities can easily grow to sizes where a single brain can comprehend all the interactions, which makes a product like Peritus a must-have. They also have a benchmarking feature to compare your community against best-in-class communities which should be pretty addicting to others — don’t we all love comparing ourselves with others ;)

Replay

EVA Growth Index:

Product:
Video-first developer collaboration tool that visualizes the output of code to realize which part of it is causing or solving specific bugs

Lead Investors:
Andressen Horrowitz, Peter Levine

Total Raised:
$9M

Comparables:
Loom meets Linear App

My Thoughts:
We are power users of both Loom and Liner for our internal software developments efforts, so merging these into a single interface makes all the sense in the world to me. We should probably start using this!
