Cotalker, Kwant, Colorcast, Emerge Tools, Afterparty–8th November, 2021
We see about 5,000 startups each week, and I want to give you a glimpse into how we at Headline think about trending tech companies and tracking new investment opportunities. In this post, I’m highlighting top tech companies that have announced or raised a seed round within the past week.
The only update we have out of the Headline portfolio this week is that we are proud to co-lead FirstAML’s $21M Series B alongside Blackbird. FirstAML is a one-click AML/CFT compliance solution based out of Australia that will move international with this funding round — something we at Headline love to be helpful given our global footprint. Excited for the journey ahead!
Now to the most exciting Seed rounds from last week.
CoTalker
EVA Growth Index:
No external sources showing growth
Product:
Low-code platform that digitizes and automates workflows for field workers and their equipment
Lead Investors:
Genesis Ventures
Total Raised:
$3.2M
Comparables:
Skedulo, Cloud Inventory
My Thoughts:
If fully adopted by an operation, CoTalker will link together fieldworkers, finance, sales, and leadership, which should result in very little churn — a great foundation to any SaaS product.
Kwant
EVA Growth Index:
No external sources showing growth
Product:
SaaS platform for construction sites to centralize and analyze the data of all IoT devices to more effectively manage operations
Lead Investors:
Unshackled Ventures
Total Raised:
$903K
Comparables:
N/A
My Thoughts:
Whichever player is the first mover in this space to reach significant capacity might be able to become the market defacto to which all IoT providers will naturally integrate — a natural monopoly.
Colorcast
EVA Growth Index:
No external sources showing growth
Product:
Consumer app that lets anyone create live sports commentary streams
Lead Investors:
Tribeca Early Stage Partners, VoicePunch VC, Hilltop Venture Partners, and Connetic Ventures
Total Raised:
$1.5M
Comparables:
Fancred
My Thoughts:
There are ample amount of creators in respective sports categories that successfully operate commentating streams for live sports events. Enabling everyday consumers to do this at scale might create a highly engaging experience that could transform traditional sports consumption.
Emerge Tools
EVA Growth Index:
Product:
Developer platform for app developers to visualize the size of code, assets, and localization of their projects
Lead Investors:
Y Combinator
Total Raised:
$1.7M
Comparables:
Test.AI
My Thoughts:
We all know product performance is key to enabling customer stickiness. Emerge enables product teams to truly drill down and prioritize the different elements of their app to optimize performance.
Afterparty
EVA Growth Index:
No external sources showing growth
Product:
Online platform for artists to create and manage NFTs for individuals to validate that they were part of an event
Lead Investors:
Acrew Capital, TenOneTen
Total Raised:
$3M
Comparables:
OpenSea
My Thoughts:
There is something very compelling around validating that you were actually part of a special real-world experience — a smart way to leverage NFT technology!
