We see about 5,000 startups each week, and I want to give you a glimpse into how we at Headline think about trending tech companies and tracking new investment opportunities. In this post, I’m highlighting top tech companies that have announced or raised a seed round within the past week.

To kick off this week, some recent news out of the Headline portfolio:

Denmark-based Netflix for Audio, Podimo, raises a $78M Series B led by Highland and 83North. We backed the company back by leading their Seed round and are astounded by how quickly the business has been able to build out its library of 950+ original shows. Go check them out if you are not a subscriber yet!

Now to the most exciting companies that announced a Seed round within the last week.

Attio

EVA Growth Index:
No external sources showing growth

Product:
Next-gen CRM with a focus on collaboration and data input automation

Investors:
Headline, Point Nine

Total Raised:
$8M

Comparables:
Airtable of the CRM world

My Thoughts:
The way we work and interact with customers has completely transformed over the last 10 years, so why should our CRMs stay the same. Attio has built a truly revolutionary and beautiful product and we could not be more excited to be partnering with them in their Seed round. See the TechCrunch article on their round announcement >> here

GetSetUp

EVA Growth Index:

Product:
Social learning platform that offers classes dedicated to older adults

Lead Investors:
Cowboy Ventures, LightShed Ventures, Rethink Education

Total Raised:
$20M

Comparables:
N/A

My Thoughts:
An extremely unique and compelling marketplace that looks to be reaching critical mass quickly. I think they are well on their way to becoming both the category creator and leader here.

Flowrite

EVA Growth Index:

Product:
AI-enabled writing assistant for customer or third-party facing knowledge workers

Lead Investors:
Project A

Total Raised:
$4.4M

Comparables:
Writer.com

My Thoughts:
Check the demo out on their home page and then tell me that this doesn’t look cool. I am super bullish on the way AI will transform the way we write and Flowcode’s vertical focus on customer/third party communication looks very compelling in my eyes.

EarlyBird

EVA Growth Index:

Product:
Online platform for parents, family, and friends to collectively invest in a child’s financial future

Lead Investors:
Seven Seven Six, Network Ventures

Total Raised:
$7M

Comparables:
Acorns, Stash

My Thoughts:
Invest $1k for your child into the S&P 500 and it will most like be worth over $5.5k by their 18th birthday (assuming the historic average annual return of 10%). Compounding over long periods of time is very underappreciated in our society and combining this with collaborative/crowd-funding should be a powerful method to give your kids a leg up in life.

Fractional

EVA Growth Index:

Product:
Social/collaborative/crowd-funding platform for fractional ownership of real estate

Lead Investors:
CRV

Total Raised:
$6M

Comparables:
Pacaso, Fundrise

My Thoughts:
I really like Fractional’s collaborative voting mechanism which should truly streamline the management of a property. The 0% management fee makes their product competitive to existing market participantsas well.
